Acclaimed Japanese artist Vasenoir Akira Murata will showcase his stunning range of artworks at the second annual Yaroomba Beach Artist in Residence program.
The program has also been incorporated into this year’s Sunshine Coast Horizon Art festival program and Wyn Vogel, from Fish Lane Studios, says last year’s program had received overwhelming support from local and visiting artists, who have enjoyed the opportunity to learn new and innovative techniques from experts in their field.
“Our workshops were at full capacity last year and they were again this year, with significant interest in Mr Murata. He excels in painting natural landscapes as well as figure painting in all forms including oils, pastels and water colours,” Vogel says.
“Although his subjects vary, many of his paintings are inspired by the natural surroundings of his home town and by the great Impressionists, Monet, Degas and Renoir. We will provide him with the opportunity to explore and be inspired by the Coast’s hinterland and stunning beaches so that he can absorb the unique colours and flora and fauna of our wonderful region.”
The Sunshine Coast Artist in Residence program runs until September 1 at the Yaroomba Design Centre. Visitors can see Murata’s work from 1pm to 4pm. For more information, visit fishlanestudios.com.
