It is a superfood, an anti-inflammatory agent and looks stunning while growing in your garden – it’s the magnificent ginger.
All things ginger will be celebrated in style at the free 23rd annual Ginger Flower & Food Festival at The Ginger Factory from January 18 to 20.
The increasingly popular festival has attracted big-name foodies including Matt Golinski, Peter Wolfe, Spirit House’s Kelly Lord and Shane Bailey from Noosa Boathouse.
Mr Golinski says he is delighted to once again showcase how diverse ginger can be in the kitchen.“I love cooking using local ingredients,” he says. “It presents what fresh produce the Sunshine Coast region has to offer – it’s quite a foodie-driven area.”
The festival also includes an exciting line-up of Sunshine Coast cooking and gardening experts, including Soil to Supper’s Cath Manuel, horticulturist Paul Plant, educator and author Leonie Shanahan and ornamental ginger expert Kim Taylor.
An exquisite range of ornamental ginger and heliconia plants will be showcased, alongside more than 3000 plants available for sale.
All the food and free fun The Ginger Factory is famous for will also be on offer, including the Ginger Town shopping, ice creamery and rainforest walks.
Rides on Moreton the ginger train and Overboard boat ride are also available for the family to enjoy by buying ride tickets or becoming annual pass holders.
