Galapagos Duck have performed all over the world and toured extensively throughout Australia, but their favourite gig was in an intimate venue in Nambour.
The renowned jazz band have won national and international awards and performed and recorded with the likes of Nina Simone and Ray Charles, James Morrison, Tommy Emmanuel, Don Burrows, Winifred Atwell and The Australian Ballet. But it was headlining the 2016 inaugural Nambour Winter Jazz Fest held at The Bison Bar that bassist John Conley considers “the best gig of the whole Australian tour”.
No wonder Conley is keen to return along with saxophonist Richard Booth, drummer Rodney Ford, keyboardist Wil Sargisson and sax player Willy Qua.
The Nambour Winter Jazz Fest is on at the C-Square complex in Currie St on July 29 from noon. Tickets are $95 and are available at nambourwinterjazzfest.net.au.
